reasons for my absence.

of all the excuses i could give for not updating in a while, here are the top two...

my recent birthday, & the vacation to oahu. my unlce lives on the island so i only had to come up with money for the ticket & a little extra spending money. what an absolute blessing this trip was.

 & of course there is still the constant work i am doing on my little music poject. here's our recent video blog that we actually shot in oahu while on my vacation!

now all excuses aside, i will try to make that extra effort to update you more on the adventure that is my life.

there once was a girl who loved to sing..

although this poor girl could sing & had a great love for music, she could not play any instruments at all :( one day she remembered a certain boy!!

 this boy could play lots of instruments & quite well i might add! he wasn't playing music for anyone else, so she asked him to play music for her.

they began learning songs & performing at local open mics. eventually the duo decided to form a tiny band & after lots of hard work, & many hours spent in studios, they came up with this..

indescribable.

this is my nephew, maverick.

long before my sister had her 1st contraction, she asked if i wanted to be in the room during the birth. since i didn't witness my 1st nephew, nor did i watch the video in school, i decided i should probably know what i'm getting myself into, (much further down the road of course).

little did i know that "yes" to being in the room meant waking up @ 3am to go to the hospital & be a human stirrup!!

 .. but looking back, it was 1 of the most beautiful, disgusting @ times, but absolutely magical things i've ever had the privilege to witness. 

the emotional attachment & love that overwhelmed my senses from that babies 1st breath, not being physically able to soak up enough detail with my eyes, thinking about the creator of the universe knitting that child together in my sisters womb!!

though i've tried, this experience truly is...

indescribable.

portland, & shopping, & pirates.. oh my!

what a whirlwind of a weekend (& a few plus days)!!

woke up @ 4:30am thursday to work 5 hours @ the coffee shop, then hopped in a car with my mother & sister & headed for portland! 

the moment we arrived we checked into our hotel & headed straight for the largest outlet mall we could find! we laughed, shopped, & took pictures in front of pretty flower displays..

the next day we took the MAX into the heart of portland. we explored downtown, pearl street, fueled up @ starbucks, then continued to shop until we nearly dropped @ "trendy" 23rd street.

feet aching @ that point we pressed on because we simply couldn't resist visiting VooDoo Doughnuts! & it was worth every agonizing step! soo many laughs were had as we ate our deliciously weird doughnuts.

i even took my doughnut to go so i could have "breakfast" @ tiffany's ;) 

the next morning we enjoyed some breakfast, shopped a little more & then headed for home sweeeet home... where i went immediately to work & ran a pretty packed open mic night @ the coffee shop.

i finished off my mini vacation/weekend on sunday as a feisty pirate lass @ the washington midsummer renaissance faire!! 

i must say, i am EXHAUSTED!! but thoroughly content & feeling incredibly blessed all @ the same time... 

life is so beautiful when one chooses to live it.

dear blogging world,

wowee it's been a while! the last (& only) time i had a blog before this was when i went to live in paris, & then continued on through my adventures in cambodia. unfortunately in one rash decision shortly after my return i deleted the whole lot! le gasp, i know!! so i apologize for the generic background & such, i'll mess with that later, but i am happy to be up & running again!

now prepare yourselves for future posts about anything & everything! in fact, next week i have a trip to portland oregon with my mom & sister, open mic night to run, & a renaissance fair to dress up for! until then, tah for now!
